Mobility

During the master's degree programme in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics students may acquire credits at other universities (mobility credits). Thereof, a maximum number of 30 mobility credits may be used for the ETH MSc diploma.

The following credits do not fall under the mobility credits category:

  • Credits acquired at the University of Basel or the University of Zurich
  • Credits acquired within the framework of an external master's thesis, since the supervising professor must be a professor of ETH Zürich, the University of Zurich or the University of Basel
  • Credits from courses offered by other Universities that are part of the regular ETH MSc CBB curriculum

Students that do not hold a bachelor's degree from ETH Zurich, the University of Basel or the University of Zurich cannot participate in the student exchange programmes offered by ETH Zürich. Self-organised stays abroad are possible. However, credits acquired during this time at other universities cannot be recognised for the ETH MSc diploma.

Students admitted to the CBB master's degree programme under the condition of fulfilling additional requirements may only take part in an exchange programme after the additional requirements are fulfilled.

Mobility credits cannot not be used for completing additional requirements.

Students put together a written study plan for the exchange together with the mobility advisor of the department and their mentor. The individual exchange study plan includes the planned courses and credits at the host university and requires the written approval of the mentor.

Important:

  • The duration of studies will not be extended because of an exchange stay.
  • The Director of Studies decides on the recognition of mobility credits for the ETH MSc diploma based on the student's request.
