Student Organisations

VIS - 'Verein der Informatik Studierenden'

MOEB - VIS Committee for Master students without an ETH Bachelor

The CBB is a Joint Degree programme from UZH and ETH. All students have to apply at ETH.

The proposed Master's programme is a specialized programme, since no Bachelor Degrees in the field are issued by UZH or ETH. Hence, all admissions will be sur dossier.

The programme is aimed at students with a Bachelor degree in the following disciplines: biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, computer science, electrical engineering and information technology , and mechanical / chemical / control engineering. For a meaningful Masters programme in computational biology and bioinformatics, a common basis in biology, computer science and mathematics is mandatory for all students. Depending on the disciplines in which students hold a Bachelors degree, additional basic knowledge in some or all of those fields will be necessary for entering MS-CBB.
The entry requirements are defined by the curricula of a set of courses, the composition of which depends on the discipline of the applicant's Bachelor studies (see Prerequisites for details).

For ETH or UZH Bachelors (with an appropriate Degree), the additional requirements will not exceed 30 ECTS. Students from other Swiss Universities will be offered the possibility of taking the preparatory courses at ETH or UZH. Students from ‘Fachhochschulen’ can be admitted, provided that the admission to a Master's programme in the discipline corresponding to the Bachelor would not imply more than 30 ECTS additional course requirements. Final decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis by the admissions committee.

Documents to be enclosed

the details of the admissions procedure can be found by consulting ETH. In addition to the usual documents, all candidates must enclose in their application:

Furthermore, candidates are recommended to summit additional information that might be relevant for the evaluation of their application (e.g. scientific or technical publications or awards, previous graduate studies, professional experience, etc.)
